MacLenzAbout
About MacLenz and the person who makes it
MacLenz is an independent Mac app made by one developer, Aslam Sarfraz. It exists to answer a simple question: where did my day go, and what is my Mac doing while I work?
What MacLenz is
A day tracker and a Mac monitor in one app
MacLenz watches two things. It tracks the apps, websites, videos and projects you use, sorts the time into productive, neutral and distracting, and shows it hour by hour. It also reads how your Mac is doing: RAM, the SSD, CPU, heat and battery, in plain words, with a log that remembers every slowdown.
Everything it records stays on your Mac. There is no account, no analytics and no cloud copy of your day, and the only thing the app sends is a license check when you use Pro. The features pages describe each part in detail.
Who makes it
Made by Aslam Sarfraz
MacLenz is built and maintained by Aslam Sarfraz, an independent software developer. The app was built and tested on an M1 MacBook, which is why Apple silicon is where it is best proven. Intel Macs are supported too.
You can read more about the maker, and the other things he builds, at aslamsarfraz.dev, or follow along on X and LinkedIn.
How it is built
Principles behind the product
Your data stays yours
Activity is saved in one folder on your Mac. MacLenz reads titles and times, never the contents of pages, documents or messages.
A real free plan
The Free plan has no time limit and needs no card. Pro is for people who want their full history and every feature.
Plain words
Pages show RAM as a desk and the SSD as a storage room, and explain what a number means.
Your files, your choice
Pro exports your history as CSV, JSON or a readable report, so you are never locked in.
Independent
Not affiliated with Apple
MacLenz is an independent product. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple. Mac, macOS and Apple Silicon are trademarks of Apple Inc. Payments for Pro are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record.
